Real materials, real numbers.

A reference library of 600 real-world materials, with the shader values you enter in Arnold, Karma and RenderMan, the conditions that age them, and the evidence behind every value.

Start from the right values, then age them.

One library, three engines

Switch between Arnold, Karma with MaterialX, and RenderMan. Parameter names and routing change to match the shader you are building.

Stack wear, rust, water and heat

Add conditions in order and watch the shader values change. Each material only offers conditions that make physical sense for it.

Every value shows its source

Colour, roughness and IOR each carry an evidence grade and a plain explanation, so you know what to trust.

Reading Mode

A second-screen view for keying values in by hand, in large type.

Click to copy

Paste values straight into Maya, Houdini, Mari or Katana.

Compare

Two materials side by side, with the differences highlighted.

Finishes and tints

Heat tint, anodising, plating, paint and surface patterns.

Presets and favourites

Save a whole look and reload it in one click.

Era and industry filters

Narrow the library to a period or a sector.

Know how well each value is known.

ABCDE

From a measured, cited value (A) down to a modelled estimate (E).

Colour is given in linear space. IOR and extinction are reference values at 589.3 nm, the sodium D line, so materials compare consistently. Roughness depends on the real surface, so it is marked as an estimate. Treat every value as a calibrated starting point.
